ABOUT ANDAMAN ISLANDS

It will be surprising to know, many of us living in India but never heard about Andaman Islands and many thinks that Andaman is not a part of India. Andaman Islands consist of 572 islands in total and only 37 of them are inhibited. Can you imagine how those inhibited islands will look like? Well, every island holds their unique scenic beauty and to be honest, I am never enoughof it. The islands never fail to amaze you with its natural beauty. Alas! For those who love calm, clean and fresh ambience, it is absolutely the right place to spend your vacation. You will be compelled to dive along with the mesmerizing views and yeah, do not forget to carry your camera to capture the breathtaking views.

CULTURE

Andamans is also known as mini India, consisting of different cultures, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Arunachal Pradesh. It is incredible isn’t? Having mixed culture and speaking different languages, people of Andamans celebrates every festival with joy and happiness together. Languages? It is so easy to communicate with the people of Andamans if you can speak Hindi or English. Is Andamans safe to travel? This is obvious to think, but let me tell you the islands have the lowest crime rate comparing to other parts of the world. But for self-security it is always wise to travel cautiously.

TRIBES

There are total 6 tribes in Andamans, four of them from Negrito tribes are Jarwa, Ongie, Great Andamanese and Sentinalese whereas the other two tribes belong to mongoloid tribes are Nicobarese and Shompenese. It is advisable to avoid any means of communication with the tribes, either by taking their pictures or giving them food.

Honeymoon Destination in Andaman – Andaman is known for its beautiful beaches and calm habitat. It is perfect destination for Honeymoon, nature lovers and an escape from pollutions. There is a cruise for passengers to travel from One Island to another Island to reach the desired destinations. One can enjoy candle light dinner on the beach, water sports, scenic spots, and many more activities.

Restricted islands in Andaman

North Sentinel Island

This is one of the most isolated Island in the world and it is strictly prohibited to visit this island. The island is home to the indigenous Sentinelese group of people who wants complete isolation from outside world.

Nicobar Islands

This Island is home to two ‘Mongoloid’ tribes - the Nicobarese and Shompem. To protect the dignity of the tribes the government has banned to visit this Island by any tourists or a local people of Andaman.

North Bay, Ross and Viper Islands

These islands are close to the city which can be covered within one day. They are famous for its history and infrastructures of British era.

Havelock Islands

The Island is famous for its beautiful beaches that are Radhanagar beach, Kalapathar Beach and Elephanta Beach. The beaches are famous for its white crystal clear sand, beautiful sunset points, clean surroundings and best views. Radhanagar beach has been given the title of “the best beach in Asia” and the 7 Th best beach in the world.

Neil Islands

Neil is famous for its natural bridge that is formed by rock and low tide leaves many species for you to discover. The Island has three famous beaches that are Laxmanpur, Bharatpur and Sitapur.

Jollybouy& Red skin

two islands are famous for its beautiful coral reefs and marine life. It is an ideal place for snorkeling, sun bathing, and swimming.

Baratang Islands

This Island is 150 km away from Port Blair city by road. On your journey to Baratang Island, you will have to cross the Jarwa Reserve area, which is followed by convey system. While passing through by speed boat, you will enjoy the dense mangrove creeks and impressive limestone cave.

Ross & Smith Islands

What makes these two islands unique from other islands is that, they are connected together with a natural sand bar which makes them appear like single group of island. The islands are 306 km away from Port Blair by Road and after that it takes 20minutes to reach the islands by boat from Aerial Bay.
